Crucifixion

I dragged my sin away

And nailed it to a rood.

Compassion held no sway

Over me as I stood

To watch while rank blood flowed

The life-force ebb and die

Stark, to the world it showed

Outlined against the sky

How few were here to mourn

A thing so out of place.

Lonely when it was born

Uplifted in disgrace.

It mattered not to me

How painfully it died

(Oh, look you fool!  Look!  See!

What you have crucified!)
