The Sower

Accursed hand that dug

The soil and planted there

The seed - with distant thought

Of what might grow - - left -

Not thinking of the need

Of moisture or warmth

To soften it's hard shell.

'Twas so small and hopeless

And could not very well

Burst forth with bud or blossom

Unless helped along the way -

The sower cared not for the reaping.

Covered - forgotten it lay - dormant

Beneath the earth - unseen - there

A needless waste - for lack

Of loving care - indifference

To it's need - what might have

Blossomed into beauty, remains

An unproductive seed.
