Time

Has trait'rous time erased my steps

From all the paths I've walked?

In the many minds I've touched

Was I a passing thought?

Was each impression ever made

So slight — and faded soon,

Not even uninvited guests

In some memory's waiting room?

Surely a life that burned so bright

Has left a little spark!

Have I not shed some light — somewhere —

Or somehow left a mark?

All is gone — and time does not remember me

— But time itself is lost in immortality.
